12:00 to 3:30 p.m.
Let’s weave! In this workshop, students will learn the basics of frame loom weaving from warping the loom, to drafting a design, and basic tapestry techniques. Jessie will demonstrate how to work with a variety of flowers and leaves to create one-of-a-kind botanical weavings. She will also assist students in developing a piece through every step of the textile-making process. A brief presentation of history and inspiration will be given. Students will leave this class with a small wall-hanging or “woven drawing”. This is a beginner workshop, but all skill levels are welcome. Students will explore material, texture, color, and pattern to cultivate their unique visual language. All materials are provided, and students will take home their frame looms to continue weaving independently. Additionally, each student will receive a digital PDF packed with resources for further exploration and learning.
Please note, everyone works at different paces, and though the majority of students will be able to complete their bags in the allotted 4 hours, some may not! All materials, pdf resources and a live office hour with Jessie will be provided to each student.
